“Successful negotiations between Lithuania and United States demonstrate that Lithuanian transport and logistics sector is capable of providing high quality services”, said Minister Masiulis.

Minister Masiulis noted that the US decision regarding the transportation of cargo via Lithuania will add profit to Klaipėda Seaport, Lithuanian Railways and other Lithuanian transport enterprises.

The largest proportion of transportation services is exported by our country to West European countries, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. With the above-mentioned countries Lithuania has well-developed railway transportation links. It should be noted that Lithuanian road vehicles‘ fleet is among the largest in Europe, and operators have considerable experience in the work with Eastern markets, so they are able to provide high quality services.

“During the first half of the year 2010 the export of transport services has grown even by 20%, if compared with the corresponding period of the year 2009. This proves that our efforts give good results even in the time of economic difficulties”, said Minister Masiulis.
