On April 15 Algirdas Butkevičius, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, participated at the opening ceremony of construction of new border control point in Stasylos (Lithuania). Modern border control point at the State border between Lithuania and Belarus will be constructed in line with the obligations of Lithuania regarding the European Union membership agreement.

“I believe that after the construction of this border control point will be finished, a reliable border control system will start functioning, which will enable streamline and safe freight transport, and it also will ensure the security of outer border of the EU”, - said Minister Algirdas Butkevičius.

According to the Minister, the new border control post, which is meeting Schengen Area requirements, will improve the flows of passengers and goods, and will be economically beneficial for the region, as new working places will be generated and freight flows by this railway will be increasing. In this control point all customs services, as well as other services of passenger and freight inspection, will be delivered in one place, as the customs, frontier services and railway services will be located in close neighbourhood. For all the staff good working and living conditions will be provided there.
