In total, 45 cruise ships carrying 35 000 passengers visited Klaipėda Seaport this year. This season is quite significant because of a particularly great number of large ships (longer than 175 m) – even 18 visits of such liners have been registered this year. Furthermore, in 2010 two cruise ships, “ChristinaRegina” and “Mein Shift“, visited Klaipėda Seaport for the first time. Both ships traditionally were presented with the Seaport coats of arms.

Port charges collected from cruise ships that visited Klaipėda Seaport in 2010 preliminarily make the approximate sum of 1.42 million LTL.

To reach higher efficiency of cruise shipping, still yet before the beginning of this year‘s cruise shipping season certain amendments of port charging rules came into force at Klaipėda State Seaport Authority. The changes have made and will provide in future better and more favourable conditions for cruise ships visiting the port. According to the changes, port charges for ships visiting the port for the second and the third times in the same calendar year will be reduced by 20%. Such discount opportunities were used by 11 cruise ships, among which were such cruise ships as 210.81 meter-long ship “Empress” that visited the port 9 times, and the 162.37 meter-long ship “Princess Daphne”, which has visited Klaipėda Seaport for 6 times.

According to preliminary data, in the next year it is planned to receive 34 cruise ships. Furthermore, following the newest information, next year two cruise ships will be visiting Klaipėda Seaport for the first time: the 300 meter-long “Costa Pacifica” planning to visit the port several times, and “Seabourn Pride” planning to visit the port six times next year.
