EU Member States old-timers share their experience

Mr. Alminas Mačiulis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, participated on 19-21 November in Berlin, where in a circuit meeting State Secretaries of Lithuanian Ministries and officials of German governmental authorities exchanged their experience of work.    

In the meeting with officials of governmental institutions it was discussed about Germany‘s, as EU old-timer‘s, experience in making solutions for coordination of the activities of the Government and the Parliament. Experience was shared concerning the issue of transportation of remains of citizens that have died abroad (perished) and regarding the possibilities of rendering financial State aid. Also there were discussed opportunities of rendering aid for nationals that have suffered abroad.    

In the meeting that was held in Lithuanian Embassy in Berlin actual Lithuanian diplomatic service issues were presented, also the interoperability of Lithuanian representations abroad was discussed. Furthermore, it was discussed about the development of Lithuanian and German relations, about the improvement of services delivered to Lithuanian citizens.

Mr. Alminas Mačiulis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, met with Mr. Matthias Oel, Director for EU Affairs of the German Ministry of the Interior. They spoke about the liberalisation of interdepartmental EU matters, about the perspectives of EU policy of the interior, they also discussed the experience of Germany‘s Presidency in the European Union. Such experience will be very useful for Lithuanians in their process of preparation for Lithuania ’s future Presidency in the EU in 2013.
