Fuel base in Vilnius was opened
Construction of the new Fuel base in Vilnius began in June, 2011. Modernizing the fuel base in Vilnius cost 9 million. litas. It was financed by “Lithuanian Railways”.
Given the fact that renewing the fleet of locomotives in recent year significantly reduced the need of fuel and oil, Vilnius fuel base capacities was reduced. Significant results were achieved by doing that – electricity consumption in Vilnius fuel base was reduced by 80 percent.
Now in Fuel base there is six double-walled underground tanks, automatic control system for leak prevention and fuel metering and measurement devices. Also there was laid a new electricity, automatic, oil supply, production, surface drainage systems, buildings internal networks.
