Such resolution was approved by joint agreement of interested institutions – the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the State Border Guard Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance and the State Representative at Marijampolė District.

“Lithuanian roads of State importance are not taxed and are equally available for everyone. The compulsory taxation of vehicles entering Kybartai border-crossing point has no legal basis, therefore this problem should be urgently solved”, said Eligijus Masiulis, Minister of Transport and Communications.

By the information of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, from the year 2001 until present, vehicles going to Kaliningrad District via Kybartai were compulsively directed to the parking lot managed by JSC “Vildega” and forced to pay the charge (7 LTL for an individual car and 43 LTL for freight transport vehicle).
