The project is funded by the EC ‘Advanced energy for Europe’ programme. Its initiators are the cities of Venice, Bremen, Tschev, Grenoble and Zagreb. The project provides recommendations for promotion of bicycling, infrastructure development and advertising of electro-bicycles. The seminar is dedicated for science, public and private sector institutions and enterprises participating in the planning, implementation, promotion and realization.

At the seminar, Transport and Communications Vice-Minister Arūnas Štaras noted that the PRESTO project is first of all intended for the development of sustainable urban transport infrastructure. He emphasized that at present Lithuania is among the EU countries having the lowest bicycling indices. However the Western Europe is perfectly aware of the fact that the healthiness should be coordinated with ecology, as well as with economic rationality.
