“I am positive that the solution on reduction of charges will enable us to attract more ships and will provide a long-term economic effect”, said Minister Masiulis.
For attraction of more cruise ships it is proposed to advance the provision of discounts for ships entering Klaipėda Seaport more than once a calendar year. It is foreseen that 20% discount should be given to ships entering the port for the second time, not for the third time as before. 50% discount should be provided to ships entering the port for the fourth time, instead for the ninth time as it was the practice before.

Lower charges will be also applied to tramp freight ships (ro-ro) and freight-passenger (ro-pax) ships adjusted to the transportation of wheeled vehicles, and for tramp container ships. Such ships handle onetime cargo shipments. Every time several neighbouring ports compete for their attraction.

For freight ships (ro-ro) entering Klaipėda Seaport no less than twice a week it is proposed to reduce charges to the proportion applied to ro-pax ships.
