“By supporting the East-West transport initiative both countries aim at ensuring safe and competitive conditions for freight transportation between Asia and Europe. For reaching this result we propose to arrange a meeting of transport ministers of Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia and China, and to sign a joint declaration”, said Minister Masiulis.
Concrete issues of Lithuanian and Kazakh cooperation will be discussed by a bilateral Working Group on Transport, a meeting of which is planned to be organised in the second quarter in Vilnius.
Belarus and China have already expressed their approbation regarding the East-West transport initiative. Joint declaration of Lithuania, Belarus and China on the cooperation in the development of this initiative was already signed on 19 October 2009 in Vilnius during the First Asia and Europe ASEM Meeting of Transport Ministers.
