Lithuania’s carriers receive good news from the Czech Republic. A bilateral meeting of road transport experts held in Prague resulted in the agreement that Lithuania’s carriers would be additionally issued 200 authorisations for the transport of goods to/from third countries by the Czech Republic in 2017. Both parties also reached a preliminary agreement on raising the current authorisation quota on a parity basis in 2018 as well.

So far Lithuanian carriers of goods by road transport had the quota of 350 authorisations for the transport of goods to/from third countries issued by the Czech Republic for this year. An obvious improvement in the economic relations between Lithuania and the Czech Republic prompted an increase in the number of authorisations.

In 2016, according to statistical data, the trade turnover between Lithuania and the Czech Republic reached EUR 666.3 million, which is a 1.1 per cent increase, as compared to 2015. Although exports fell by 5 per cent and accounted for EUR 226.6 million, imports jumped by 6.2 per cent to reach EUR 439.8 million.

According to the trade turnover, the Czech Republic is currently 20th among over 200 Lithuania’s trade partners.
