The Government of the Republic of Lithuania approved draft legislative acts on ratification of international agreements of  „Eurocontrol“ - European organization for the safety of air navigation.

This is the major step towards adoption of these legislative acts in the Parliament, when the Republic of Lithuania would become the full mebmer of „Eurocontrol“.

The membership status would create better conditions to develop and implement European air traffic flow management programs, to participate in decision making process. The membership in this organization will influence further air traffic strategy of both Lithuania and European Union, improve air navigation services level and expand airways network.

Eurocontrol is a civil and military organization, which primary objective the development of a seamless, pan- European Air traffic management (ATM) system. It develops, coordinates and plans implementation of short-, medium- and long-term pan-European air traffic management strategies and their associated action plans in a collective effort involving national authorities, air navigation service providers, civil and military airspace users, airports, industry, professional organizations and relevant European institutions.
