Minister Eligijus Masiulis: “Transparent competition conditions in transport sector will be ensured by electronic public procurement”

2010 01 25

The Ministry of Transport and Communications makes efforts to involve a possibly largest number of companies with adequate qualifications, and seeks that the road construction and maintenance works should be carried out at the most advantageous costs. As the Minister said, public procurement operated in electronic way will ensure the transparency of the whole public procurement process and will stimulate fair competition as well as save resources. Lithuanian Road Administration under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which is organising public procurement for road construction and maintenance work, has from September already arranged several public procurement tenders by electronic way.
Seeking better transparency, the Ministry of Transport and Communications is presently preparing a concept for the essential reform of organising road construction and maintenance work.
