Nordic and Baltic Ministers of Transport are Striving for Stronger Positions in the Baltic Region

On 8 May—while participating in a discussion meeting of Nordic and Baltic state transport ministers in Stockholm (Sweden) on the topic of Northern-Baltic Dialogue on Infrastructure Planning—Minister of Transport and Communications Algirdas Butkevičius spoke for active development of neighbourhood policy in the area of transport.

Transport ministers of Northern and Baltic states met in Stockholm by the initiative of Sweden and Norway to discuss relevant issues pertaining to development of transport infrastructure and interaction with global transport networks. They discussed the ways that could be used for making the interaction of transport systems and how to in the future increase the significance of the Baltic Sea region in networks of Europe and the entire world. It was discussed how transport networks in the directions of East-West could be developed in order to improve movement of goods and people between all countries of the world.
