During the two months of 2010 Vilnius International Airport handled 173 196 passengers, which is by 2.5% more than in the same period of the last year. The increase of flights is almost 15%.
“Good results of the year show that aviation business is rapidly recovering from the critical condition of 2008-2009. Flights increase more rapidly than the amounts of handled passengers. This indicated that the amounts of flights are sufficient. However the market as far as now is not ready for the reception of the whole amount of supply by airlines operating in Vilnius International Airport. For the growth of the passenger flows it is very important to have the input of all actors of tourism market. Vilnius is quite easily accessible, but those wishing to come do not fully fill the planes”, said Tomas Vaišvila, Director General of Vilnius International Airport.

In February, in Vilnius International Airport the most popular destinations have also changed. At present Copenhagen outstripped Riga. Other popular destinations still remain: Prague, Dublin, and London.

Among the Baltic airports Vilnius keeps a stable second place after Riga. In Tallinn during the two months of this year the flows of passengers receded in comparison with the same period of the last year approximately by 10%, and the number of flights decreased by approximately 8 %.
