Ričardas Degutis assumed the position of Vice-Minister of transport and communications

On 4 January, Ričardas Degutis, a diplomat and former Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia and Latvia, took office as Vice-Minister of transport and communications.

Until last August Mr. Degutis has served as Lithuania’s ambassador to Latvia, previously he worked as Lithuania’s ambassador to Georgia and Consul General of Lithuania in Saint Petersburg (Russia).

Prior to the current appointment, he worked as Ambassador-at-Large at the European Union Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.

The newly appointed Vice-Minister graduated from the Faculty of History at Vilnius University and acquired the profession of journalist in 1991. In the same year, Mr. Degutis studied the diplomacy course at the University of Leeds (UK), and in 1997 accomplished the programme of defence and security at George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies (Germany).
