“By this decision the Government is shutting out the ways for collection of illegal dues – such an opportunity existed at the Kybartai border-crossing point”, noted Minister Masiulis.
The mandate given to the Border-Control Points Directorate will also enable easier arrangement of installation and management of parking sites necessary for vehicles awaiting the border-crossing. Thus, solution of problems arising lately to drivers and local people will be solved more efficiently on the Lithuanian State border with the Kaliningrad District of the Russian Federation and Belarus.

The parking sites for vehicles awaiting the border-crossing will enable better regulation of transport flows. Also there will decrease the amounts of cars parked on the streets of townships located close to the State border, the traffic conditions near the border and the public order will improve. Furthermore, vehicles will be parked free of charge on the parking sites managed by the Border-Control Points Directorate. This will alleviate the burden of charges for drivers.
