The agreed preliminary quota for 2007 – respectively 3000 and 200, and in the case of additional need, it will be possible to negotiate over a bigger amount of these permits.

These results crowned the visit of Minister of Transport and Communications Algirdas Butkevičius in Kazakhstan where he met with Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and discussed the development of co-operation between Lithuania and Kazakhstan in the fields of railway, road and water transport.

Road transport issues were discussed by a Commission on International Carriage by Road composed of representatives of Kazakhstan and Lithuania . At the sitting of the Commission not only the issue concerning the abovementioned agreement on quotas for carriers, but also the possibilities to simplify the procedure for issuing multiple visas for Lithuanian carriers were considered.
