Lithuania – in the shipping White List

Last year having entered the shipping White List, this year Lithuania still keeps positions in the prestigious list, outrunning such countries with deep maritime traditions as Spain, Japan, Russia. This has been approved on 10 May in Dublin, during the session of the State Port Control Committee of Paris Memorandum of Understanding.

The renewed map of Lithuanian highways and national roads contains by half less “black spots” if compared with 2007, when the number of “black spots” reached 247.

Air transport agreement between Lithuania and Singapore will open wider opportunities

Intergovernmental agreement of Lithuania and Singapore will come into force in the nearest future. The objective of the agreement includes the development of cooperation in aviation and defining of conditions for regular air traffic. Today the Government has approved the ratification of this document.

Minister of Transport and Communications urges to join efforts of the State and business for stimulation of incoming tourism in Lithuania

During a comparatively short period of time having successfully renewed the air links with Europe, the Ministry of Transport and Communications urges to use the existing flight possibilities and join efforts of governmental institutions and business for stimulation of incoming tourism in Lithuania. According to Minister Eligijus Masiulis, if a sufficient passenger flow is not attracted the number of attained direct flights may decrease again.

European gauge railway project Rail Baltica has been recognised as an economic project of State importance. Such a decision was adopted today by the Government according to the proposal of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Lithuania and China confer regarding the East-West transport initiative and business relationship development

On 29-31 March Lithuanian delegation headed by Minister Eligijus Masiulis and consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and representatives of transport and logistics business, is visiting China. At the meetings held in Beijing the following topics are being discussed: the improvement of transportation between the two countries, the development of East-West transport initiative and enhancement of cooperation between transport and logistics enterprises of Lithuania and China.

In the summer season – new destinations from Vilnius

A new summer-season timetable of regular flights has come into effect at the Vilnius International Airport this Sunday. The timetable contains new destinations and an increased frequency of certain existing flights. The timetable will be valid until 30 October 2010.

Lithuania and France will deliver consultations in the field of transport to Serbia, the EU access seeking country

After winning the tender of EU Twinning project, Lithuania and France will provide consultations in the field of transport to Serbia – a country that is seeking access to the European Union. During the implementation of the two-year project the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications will be a partner of France in providing assistance to Serbia in harmonisation of EC legislation, which is necessary for every country accessing the European Union.
