M. Skuodis has removed from office the head of the State Enterprise Oro Navigacija

On Tuesday, 19 January, Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Transport and Communications, has removed from office Marius Beliūnas, the CEO of the State Enterprise Oro Navigacija. M. Beliūnas was appointed to hold office of the head of this air transport infrastructure enterprise in September last year by the Minister Jaroslavas Narkevičius.

The Minister signed an order on the removal of the head of Oro Navigacija on Tuesday.

“The Board of the enterprise expressed lack of confidence in the head of the enterprise and did not see an opportunity to continue working with M. Beliūnas. The head of the enterprise and the Board have different attitude towards the implementation of the goals set for the enterprise, operational efficiency and investments. I have no grounds for distrusting the Board of the enterprise. Therefore, I have assessed the protracted and inherited stalemate situation in the enterprise, which may also be detrimental to national security interests, delayed realization of state expectations, far-gone confrontation between members of the management, that escalates into confrontation with the employees, and made the decision to remove from office the head of the enterprise”, - the Minister of Transport and Communications comments on his decision.

M. Beliūnas started working at Oro Navigacija in 2018 in the position of Adviser to the CEO. Later he held the position of the head of Department of Safety, Quality and Security of the enterprise. In April last year, he became the interim head of the enterprise. M. Beliūnas won the announced competition of candidates to the position of the head of Oro Navigacija and he was appointed by J. Narkevičius, the former Minister of Transport and Communications, to lead this enterprise.

After M. Beliūnas was removed from his office, Redvita Četkauskienė, Head of the Division of Law and Document Management at Oro Navigacija, has been appointed to hold the position of the interim head of the enterprise. Competition of candidates to the position of new head of Oro Navigacija will be announced.

“During my term of office, I will work to ensure that the legal form of all state enterprises be changed as soon as possible to public limited liability companies, and will seek for depoliticisation of the appointment of the heads of enterprises and that responsibilities be transferred to the boards of the enterprises operating in accordance with modern management principles”, - says the Minister.

Oro Navigacija is the only enterprise in the country that is granted the right to provide air traffic, communication, navigation and surveillance as well as air navigation information services to aircrafts that are flying in Lithuanian airspace. The enterprise has 250 employees.
