Minister of Transport and Communications will discuss closer bilateral economic cooperation opportunities in Kazakhstan

As Lithuania and Kazakhstan are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis, together with the Lithuanian business delegation, is beginning his official working visit in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, where he will open the Lithuania-Kazakhstan Business Forum, discuss the opportunities for closer bilateral cooperation in trade and communication. 

In Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan, the Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications is to meet with Roman Sklyar, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Bagdat Mussin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, as well as Nurlan Sauranbaev, Chair of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, and European Union (EU) Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kęstutis Jankauskas and the heads of the EU Delegation.

During the meetings M. Skuodis, together with Algis Latakas, Director General of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, Egidijus Lazauskas, Chief Executive Officer of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, Romas Austinskas, Head of the Lithuanian National Road Carriers’ Association LINAVA, and Vidmantas Janulevičius, President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, will invite Kazakh companies to strengthen economic relations and development of transport connections, freight transportation and cooperation in digitisation.  

The Minister will continue his visit in Almaty, where he will open the Lithuania-Kazakhstan Business Forum, meet with Kairbek Uskenbayev, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan, and Erbolat Dosaev, the Mayor of Almaty. At the bilateral Business Forum, heads of the Lithuanian and Kazakh confederations of industrialists and carriers’ associations will sign memorandums to promote cooperation between the countries.

During the visit, M. Skuodis will also see one of the region’s largest logistics centres in Khorgas, which carries out trade between Asia and Europe.
