Marius Skuodis to attend the UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai
On Monday, Marius Skuodis, Minister of Transport and Communications, is travelling to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), to attend the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) on 5–6 December.
This year’s COP28 puts a lot of focus on the transport sector. As Lithuania holds the Presidency of the International Transport Forum (ITF), Skuodis will speak at the ITF and International Energy Agency event to discuss the synergy between the transport and energy sectors in achieving climate objectives, as well as take part in Transport Day events organised by the European Commission.
The Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania will discuss Rail Baltica, the largest railway infrastructure project in the Baltic States, in a joint discussion with Kaspars Briškens, Latvian Minister of Transport and Communications, and Kristen Michal, Estonian Minister of Climate.
In Dubai, bilateral meetings with senior officials from the UK, Canada, and other countries are also planned.
In May 2023, Lithuania took over the presidency of the ITF from the UK. During its presidency, Lithuania together with the ITF management and partners aims to mobilise the international transport community to develop sustainable, innovative, and environmentally friendly connectivity and supports Ukraine in rebuilding its transport infrastructure.
