Marius Skuodis to meet with the UK Secretary of State for Transport in London to sign a memorandum on air services

Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis will pay a working visit to London, United Kingdom (UK) on 28-29 June, where he will discuss the bilateral economic agenda and opportunities for closer cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics with Grant Shapps, the Secretary of State for Transport. In order to develop air freight services, the Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications will sign a memorandum of cooperation with his UK counterpart.

The development of direct flights between Lithuanian and UK airports will be discussed at the meeting with the UK Secretary of State for Transport. Vilnius and London are connected by flights to London City Airport. UK experts are currently advising on a model for promoting flights in areas of strategic importance to Lithuania. 

At the same time, the issues of transport innovation and development of environmentally friendly transport, the progress of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) investigation into the forced landing of the Ryanair passenger aircraft in Minsk, as well as the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine and its impact on international markets will be discussed.

During the visit, Skuodis will meet with the leaders of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to discuss the impact of the war on international shipping and global shipping trends.

During his visit to London, the Minister will also meet with members of the Lithuanian community in the UK.
