Minister Sabutis Will Attend the Informal Meeting of EU Transport Ministers in Warsaw
On 17–18 March, Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications Eugenijus Sabutis will participate in the informal meeting of European Union (EU) Transport Ministers in Warsaw, Poland.
At the meeting, ministers will discuss the issues of building transport resilience through dual-use civil-military transport infrastructure funding. They will also focus on the EU cyber-security and deepening transport links with Ukraine.
In Warsaw, Mr Sabutis and the Lithuanian delegation are scheduled to meet with the Swedish, Danish and Latvian Transport Ministers, as well as representatives from the Polish and Estonian Transport Ministries.
Lithuania aims to develop the north-south links of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), linking the Baltic, Black and Aegean Seas through transport corridors. Priority is given to the fastest possible implementation of Via Baltica, Rail Baltica and other projects to advance military mobility.
The new TEN-T network already includes an additional North Sea-Baltic Corridor link, providing the shortest route between Lithuania, other Baltic countries and Ukraine.
At the initiative of Lithuania, the TEN-T network also includes a European rail track to Klaipėda and new military mobility links between Lithuania and Poland – from Białystok via Augustów, Lazdijai and Alytus to Vilnius.
