Mr. Skuodis is on his way to Brussels: meeting with the Chair of the EP's Committee on Transport and taking part in an international discussion
Mr. Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Transport and Communications, departs today for Brussels (Belgium), where he will discuss the development of the transport corridors between Ukraine and the seaports of the Baltic States with Ms Karima Delli, the Chairwoman of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport. Whilst in Brussels, Mr. Skuodis will be attending the 50th anniversary of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) representation in the EU where he and other EU leaders will be discussing the digitalisation of transport and logistics, driving innovation and the transition to green transport.
The international event, organised by IRU, will also be attended by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the Mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close, representatives of transport ministries and institutions from Belgium, Spain and other EU countries, and leaders of the road transport industry.
Minister Skuodis will be speaking at the panel discussion: “At the crossroads: decarbonisation and digitisation of transport”.
“The transport sector of Lithuania, and the countries of the whole region alike, is currently going through an unprecedented transformation, which includes the diversification of markets, customers and activities, and expansion into new markets, especially in Western Europe. Our leadership and cooperation across Europe on driving transport innovation and green solutions is particularly important in today's geopolitical context,” told Minister Skuodis.
During his visit to Brussels, the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania is also going to meet with Lithuanian MEPs.
IRU is the International Road Transport Union, founded in Geneva in 1948, uniting the international transport and logistics business community in more than 80 countries.
