Lithuania continues its assistance to freight carriers experiencing war-related challenges: carriers from Moldova allowed to return to their home country through Lithuania
In view of the Russia’s war against Ukraine and in response to the request expressed by The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova, Lithuania grants permission to all international freight carriers from Moldova, who are currently in the territories of Russia and Belarus, to transit through Lithuania in order to return to their home country.
By March 20, all Moldova-registered vehicles that are used to carry international freight transport and returning to Moldova will be allowed to enter Lithuania and cross its territory in transit without Lithuanian travel permits.
The Customs Department, the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration and the Police Department have been informed on the decision to ensure the above conditions to freight carriers from Moldova crossing Lithuanian territory.
Seeking to express its support to Ukrainian carriers experiencing war-related challenges, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has ensured similar conditions applicable to Ukrainian carriers as of 25 February.
