The new wholesale prices of PI Plačiajuostis internetas become effective as of 1 January 2022. Based on the order signed by Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis, approving the newly calculated rates for the services provided by this organisation, high-speed 1 Gb/s bandwidth transmission speed is to accelerate 3-fold, i. e. to 3 Gb/s, and bandwidth transmission of up to 300 Mb/s speed is to go up more than 1.5 times to 500 Mb/s. Service prices shall not change, which means that faster internet connection is to be available for the same price.

With increasing digitalisation of the sectors and growing data traffic, there is an emerging need for faster and better quality connection.

“Following the recalculation of the rates, it was estimated that it is possible to up the operation of some services without increasing their prices. This is crucial in preparing for future technology and in allowing sustainable development of 5G connection and other high-capacity networks in Lithuania. Higher operation speed will enable the providers of electronic communications services to offer their customers higher speed broadband services, which in turn is vital for smooth remote work or learning processes,” Vice Minister of Transport and Communication Agnė Vaiciukevičiūtė said.

PI Plačiajuostis internetas rates are calculated each year on the basis of the rate calculation methodology coordinated with the Communications Regulatory Authority.

Public institution Plačiajuostis internetas is a non-profit organization providing broadband services for the operators of electronic communication services in rural areas of the country. The sole owner of this institution is the State, rights and obligations of which are fulfilled by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
